”Monuments of Modernism” is a tribute to majestic and grandiose architecture. Linnvasselvs power-station is located at the Norwegian border, 3 swedish miles outside of Gäddede, county Jämtland, Sweden. Now, at 50 years of age it is a monument of its era, reflecting a time when no costly material or artistry was spared for the investment of hydroelectric power. The building has inspired me to create a video piece and series of photographs in collaboration with dancer and choreographer Maria Nilsson Waller, the electronic music duo Systraskap and photographer Jamie Noakes. In 2014 a book about the Linvasselv-project together with other powerstations built between 1930-1970 in the northern regions of Sweden will be completed. This project is financed by Kulturbryggan, Konstakademien and Filmpool Jämtland.
