My final exam for the Royal Institute of Art, Stockholm. In a video, the Rottweiler Betsy dances in slow motion to the chants of gregorian nuns. At the same time a series of photographs displaying a mixture of religious and bodily experiences. This work expresses a wish to slow down the tempo of the daily life and live more like the animals, be in the moment and ponder less. I investigate the use of terms like ”clean” within religion – who is clean and who is not? While the menstruation is considered unclean the blood of the hymen is considered clean. I play a visual game connecting my pieces with different religious meanings. All in all, the work reflects a sort of spiritual journey where relaxation and peoples health are the centre.
